What to do after an accident – reports and claims?

Discuss the accident only with the police officer and your insurance agent. Be sure you don’t give information that would put you on a precarious position. As much as possible, do not admit any fault.
Be sure to get the names, addresses, and contact numbers of people involved in the accident. If you can get their insurance company, license plate and vehicle identification numbers, the better. You would need these for insurance claims. Remember, if you lack documents or reports, you may not be able to file for insurance claims, and likely you will have to pay for repairs or damages.
